Coaching Staff

This team is coached by Joseph Maniscalco a/k/a Coach Joe, Toni Marie Valeriano a/k/a Coach Toni and Allie Laird a/k/a Coach Allie. These coaches have a wealth of knowledge and experience in coaching girls softball. Coach Toni is the Director of Player Development in the BlueFire program and Coach Allie recently graduated from Adelphi’s softball program and is currently attending law school. The path for this team is aimed at development, fundamentals and understanding the game at this first year 12U level.

Joseph Maniscalco

Head coach and Founder of NY BlueFire Fastpitch Joe Maniscalco is a former Division I baseball player at Fordham University. He earned a full athletic scholarship from Chaminade High School to attend Fordham. While at Fordham, he amassed an impressive pitching record and was named team captain as a sophomore, an unprecedented accomplishment at the time. Coach Joe was an All-American at Fordham and played in the NCAA regionals. 25 years later, he is still in the top 10 for many pitching records. Shoulder surgery shortened his playing career. He has been teaching and training since graduating from college almost 25 years ago. Coach Joe is also a frequent lecturer and writer on fastpitch softball and performance related topics. He is a mentor to several student athletes and on the advisory board of different organizations in the sports community. He writes for National Fastpitch Coaches Association (“NFCA”) and has been applauded for his efforts in mental training and pyramid philosophy of Success.

Coach Joe resides in Wantagh with his wife Lisa and four daughters Brianna, Kaitlin, Julia and Olivia.

Coach Joe has been conducting mental training and sports performance coaching for numerous collegiate teams in softball, lacrosse, football and dance for years.  As a certified mental training coach, he assist athletes in more than the physical but shows them how to perform in high pressure situations.  He is currently the assistant coach for the Adelphi Panthers softball team primarily conducting mental training and sports performance.

Allie Laird

Allie Laird is from Suffolk County, NY and has extensive softball experience. Allie joined BlueFire in May 2020 as our 10u coach and has since become the head coach of our 12u Blue team and an assistant coach of our 12U Black team.  Allie currently attends law school at Hofstra University. She attended Long Island University & Adelphi University and graduated in 2020. Allie played middle infield and left field in her years at both of these accomplished universities.

To finish Allie’s college career she transferred to Adelphi University, Allie started all 10 games in left field in her debut season at Adelphi. She collected seven hits and went 6-for-6 in steal attempts in that span. Allie batted 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two stolen bases in a win over Western Oregon, and provided a two-RBI single and swiped a pair of bases in a win over Tiffin.

For her first three years at Long Island University, Allie collected 128 hits, 82 runs scored and 43 RBIs. Allie was named Second Team All-ECC and NFCA First Team All-East Region selection as a junior. She hit a career-best .356 at the plate, ranking second on the team with 74 hits in her junior season. Allie ranked second on the team with 24 multi-hit games. She hit 6 homeruns and 13 doubles and had 52 runs scored. Allie’s junior season the LIU Post softball team made it to the Division II World Series where they were ranked 1st in the country.

In High school, at Sachem East, Allie was a Five-year varsity starter, Named All-Conference, All-League and All-County as well as earned All-Tournament honors two years in a row. Allie hit .488 with 16 RBIs in her senior season. Allie was a multi-sport athlete in high school and also played field hockey where she was an All-Conference, All-County Honorable Mention and All-Long Island selection.

Coach Joe on Allie – Allie bring a wealth of experience to our program and provides a great example to our players of what it means to be a multi-sport athlete and a student athlete.  She has excelled on and off the field and we are proud she is part of the development of our organization.
