Bellmore Blue Fire Girls Softball Wins District 31 Championship and Thanks La Piazza for the Pre-Game Chicken Tenders

Bellmore Little League is extremely proud of its girls’ fastpitch softball teams. The Bellmore 14U team recently won the District 31 Championship for the second year in a row and advanced to the Sectionals. They are now competing for the New York State tournament.

Bellmore thanks LaPiazza for the chicken tenders before each game. The girls have a tradition that started two years ago to get together and eat before every Williamsport game. They routinely order chicken tenders from LaPiazza and cook macaroni and cheese at the coaches house. These girls are so close that the entire experience is something that will never be forgotten. “It’s never about the wins or losses, but rather the journey along the way”, describes coach Joe Maniscalco, “and their journey is filled with excitement, dedication, commitment and fun”.

During the first game, Bellmore’s Alexa Boscarino pitched a gem of a game and threw a 2 hit shutout against Massapequa. Bellmore defeated Massapequa 16-0 in the opening round game. Emily Madden was awesome during the entire District games. She was the key to the hitting for the BlueFire team. Ashley Boscarino, Bellmore’s dominating lead off hitter was on base all day and starting rallies for the team. Brianna Maniscalco and Nicole Aliberit delivered powerful hitting blows to the Massapequa team to keep the game out of reach.

Bellmore went to Brianna Maniscalco on the pitcher’s mound to close out the Championship. This was another dominating pitching performance. Bellmore won 10-3 to defeat Massapequa and bring home the District 31 Championship for Bellmore. Although the game started out slow, the entire team worked to deliver key base hits to start rallies and bring in runners. Kristina Barry was hot at the plate and delivered key hits for Bellmore. Nicole Moccio was awesome at first base and the defense was stellar.

The girls are very excited about the win and the opportunity to play in the Sectionals. Bellmore is extremely proud of their accomplishment, says Steve Kropp, President of Bellmore Little League.

The Bellmore BlueFire U14 team consists of Ashley Boscarino, Alexa Boscarino, Mairead Ryan, Brianna Maniscalco, Nicole Moccio, Nicole Aliberti, Kaitlin Maniscalco, Emily Madden, Kacie Badolato, Kristina Barry, and Katie Grodski.
